PT VAILE

PT VAILE is an essential laboratory tube designed for coagulation testing and evaluation of the fibrinolytic system. It contains 3.2% (0.109 mol/L) or 3.8% (0.129 mol/L) sodium citrate as an anticoagulant and features a light blue cap for easy identification. The tube maintains a precise 1:9 ratio of citrate to blood, which is critical for accurate test results; underfilling or overfilling can lead to misdiagnosis.

The tube is available in glass or PET (plastic) material, often double-walled to prevent evaporation, and comes in standard sizes of 13 x 75 mm, 13 x 100 mm, or 16 x 100 mm. Draw volumes typically range from 1.8 ml to 5 ml, with options up to 10 ml for larger collections. After blood collection, the tube should be gently inverted 3–8 times to mix the sodium citrate thoroughly and prevent premature clotting.

Once centrifuged at 2000–2500g for 10–15 minutes, the resulting plasma is used for testing the extrinsic and common coagulation pathways, including PT, APTT, INR, TT, Fibrinogen, D-Dimer, and Factor Assays. This ensures reliable and reproducible results for clinical decision-making.
